Through UK envoy to Kenya, Nic Hailey, May congratulated Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta following their March 9 unity pact.

This was revealed when Hailey met with Uhuru at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi.

"I am here to deliver congratulations from the PM and her government. The handshake with Uhuru was a great show of leadership. It was noticed by my Prime Minister and the government in London," said Hailey.

Raila, in a tweet, said: "We had candid discussions on pertinent issues affecting our nation."After the handshake, the opposition leader was given more privileges in a demonstration of increased goodwill between him and Uhuru.

The country is eagerly awaiting the roll out of programmes by two leaders following the handshake.
