Road accidents and polio have been named as the leading causes of physical disability in Kenya.
The gut-wrenching revelations were made today during the celebration of the International Day of Disability in Nairobi at Moi Avenue.
These revelations throw a challenge to the government to come up with measures that will reduce disabilities caused by the two causes.
Responsibility will be on the shoulders of the Ministry of Health and government agencies like the NTSA to make game-changing interventions.
Anti-polio awareness campaigns will have to be stepped to ensure that newborns get the necessary vaccinations to shield them from the ravages of the debilitating disease.
Traffic police will have to vigorously enforce the traffic laws to reduce accidents on the roads.
Road accidents in Kenya are mainly caused by overspeeding and drunk driving.
