Civil servants vying for political seats in the next elections have until Wednesday to resign.
Government workers are required by law that they quit by Wednesday before launching their campaigns for the August 8 election.
Among those expected to resign are Kenya’s permanent representative to the United Nations Prof Sam Ongeri who is seeking to beat Kisii Senator Chris Obure. Ongeri has already quit Jubilee which Obure has already joined.
Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa will also have to leave if he chooses to go for the Nairobi governor's seat.
Another politician expected to quit is Kenya Power chairman Kenneth Marende. The former National Assembly Speaker will be contesting the Nairobi governor's seat.
Others who will lose their jobs in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government are Kilemi Mwiria who is the President's advisor on education and political advisor Joshua Kuttuny.
John Mututho who chairs the Transport Licensing Appeals Board, National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation chairman Julius Kones, Betting and Licensing Board member Simon Chelugui, and Agricultural Development Corporation chairman Wakoli Bifwoli who is the former Bumula MP are expected to relinquish their positions.
Tana-Athi Rivers Development Authority chairman Abdul Bahari and his Kenya Industrial Estates counterpart Rehema Dida, NHIF chairman Muhamud Ali, Chirau Ali Mwakwere, Pamela Odhiambo, a lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and Union of Kenya Civil Servants secretary general Tom Odege could be on their way out as well according to the Standard.
