Former Arsenal player Thierry Henry on Thursday graced the ‘Made of Black’ launch at a Nairobi hotel.
The legendary footballer called upon football chiefs to invest in academics to promote the sport across the nation.
During the event a partnership between Guinness and celebrated Kenyan referee Tabitha Wamboi was launched.
Henry, who also starred for Spain giants Barcelona and the French national team also attended a football camp in KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka where he inspired different parties on the sport before he met Kenyan legend Joe Kadenge.
The soft spoken player said that he is grateful for the football academy that made him who he is today and urged football chiefs to support academies for the sake of talent development.
“I will always be grateful to the football academy I attended. That is where I was taught how to play football. People forget you need a brain to play the game,” said Henry, as quoted by Nation.
Henry also defended under-fire manager Arsene Wenger saying his legacy cannot be compared to any other.
Thierry won the hearts of many football fans because of his ball control skills and fast pace. He is now an assistant coach of the Belgium national team
