Thieves broke into the Greater Rift valley SDA headquarters and went away with valuables worth sh 200,000.
A gang of 10 thieves on Thursday night broke into Greater Rift valley SDA headquarters and stole valuables worth thousands of shillings.
Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Executive Director Christopher Misoi said over 200,000 worth of valuables were stolen.
"It is sad that on Thursday night our offices were attacked by ten armed thieves who stole 2 laptops, cash box with important documents and sh 80,000 in cash," he said in his office, Friday.
"I call upon security personnel to beef up security in churches since criminals are now targeting churches.
In recent past we have had over 5 incidences of churches being broken into in the County," he added.
He urged Eldoret residents to embrace Nyumba kumi initiative by knowing their neighbors since security begins with you.
"This is the only way that will help us deal with insecurity because everyone will be conversant with one another and in case there is a stranger he or she is easily identified," noted Misoi.
He called upon Uasin Gishu County Government to erect security lights around churches to enhance security and prevent such incidences.
