The estate named Runda, which is inhabited by students, is surrounded by a stone wall and an electric fence on top of the wall. The students were shocked to find their doors broken and their items missing.

The tenants say they had each paid the landlord  sh500 to hire a watchman during the holidays and are still in shock how their items were stolen yet there was somebody guarding the compound.

The thieves took away with a number of electronics, laptops, gas cylinders, shoes, and clothing among others. It is believed the plan was well planned. Footprints in the corridors indicate that the thieves were between 3 to 4 males.

''I was shocked when I got to my room, I realized my door was broken into and when got in I was shocked the room was empty yet before I left for the holiday, my room was full of my stuff, ” says Elijah Mwangi, one of the tenants.

The Police are now calling upon the public to give any useful information that may lead to the arrest of the thieves.

The landlord and watchman are also expected to record statements in Maseno Police Station on Friday morning.
