The Kenya power and lighting company risk losing millions of shillings due to illegal connection of power, stealing and vandalizing transformers in various parts of the country. A section of business premises and residential houses in Molo district are now in darkness following power blackout witnessed due to illegal connection and transformer theft. The residents claimed that there has been regular disruption and disconnection of electricity supply in many parts of Molo sub County putting the power parastatal on the spotlight. A section of multi million business proprietors are accusing the power providers of breach of service and lack of professionalism in service deliver. They said power blackout has been rampant in the area adding that the power giant has not been giving its customers notice to enable them plan their business. Mr. Paul Muiruri of Muchorwe trading centre said power cut out has affected his welding business. He said KPLC has failed to properly Mulika Mwizi (shine light on thief) stealing transformers and cashing in on the power company materials. He said a vandalized transformer at Muchorwe centre still remain at the scene for almost a month despite numerous complains being made to the power company.
