Thika Sub County OCPD Francis Muthamia has warned area bar and restaurants against selling counterfeit products.
Muthamia said impure products sold in outlets were responsible for the deaths witnessed in the county in the recent years.
Kiambu and Murang’a Counties have been on limelight over illicit liquor.
Addressing journalists in his office, Thika town, on Friday Muthamia said retailers should have records to ascertain the purchase of the liquor.
He said that the retailers should insist on Electronic Tax Register (ETR) receipts for verification of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) marks and incase the drink is counterfeit they should not relent but report them to the relevant authority.
“Retailers should insist on ETR receipts from their distributor in order to verify their validity as well as help to track it especially if found harmful,” said Muthamia
The OCPD further cautioned the wines and spirit outlets who sell drinks in tots alleging that it could have been adulterated and if found they will face the law.
“We will not tolerate wines and spirit dens which sell sub standard products,” said Muthamia.
Muthamia further expressed his concerns to the manufactures who produce right samples for inspection but later on distribute counterfeit to the public terming the act as inhuman.
