Thika United put up a spirited fight to thrash Bandari Fc 1-0 in a match played at the Thika municipal stadium on Saturday.
Shami Kibwana was the man of the moment after his beautiful free kick bounced off the bar and into the net with Bandari's custodian Joseph Okoth well beaten.
The milkmen badly needed a win in order to avoid the relegation shocker that continued to linger on their shoulder and the narrow win counted at the end as they went ahead to remain afloat on goal differences as Western Stima joined Muhoroni Youth in the National Super League.
Kibwana will, however, rue his missed chances that could have seen Thika emerge victorious with an even wider margin.
On the 6th minute, the diminutive striker hit the side net with only Okoth to beat in goal.
Bandari, on the other hand, failed to utilize their few chances with Darius Msagha and Edwin Lavatsa spurning clear chances.
