Bodaboda operators in Juja Sub-County have been cautioned against careless driving along the Thika superhighway as they are endangering their lives.
Speaking during a meeting with bodaboda operators in Juja Town on Wednesday, Thika traffic police base commander Apelles Chacha decried increasing cases of road accidents caused by the operators.
She said the operators know very well that careless riding causes accidents and claims lives but they ignore the fact and called upon them to be cautious since more lives are being lost in the area.
Chacha advised the operators to go for short training, saying it was the only way to reduce accidents and ensure they observe road rules.
The officer urged the operators to join Saccos that would enable them to work in unity to enhance security in the region.
“It is important for bodaboda operators to take caution while riding on the highway in a bid to curb the increasing number of accidents that have been claiming their lives,” said Chacha.
Bodaboda riders’ chairman Charles Irungu also called upon his fellow riders to adhere to road rules to avoid being arrested by traffic police in the town and causing accidents in the area.
