Thika bodaboda operators chairman Joseph Mwangi has revealed that the Thika bodaboda Sacco has set aside funds to sensitize bodaboda operators on traffic rules to eradicate deaths in the area due to incompetence cyclists.
He said that the deaths of cyclists in the region have been alarming and they lose their cyclists who are their friends and families of something they can avoid.
The chairman who was speaking on Friday in Thika town said that in partnership with Thika Traffic commandant Benjamin Kiprono, they will ensure that every cyclist have a license and they are educated on traffic rules step by step to help the many deaths along the Thika super highway and killing of passengers.
Mwangi revealed that the Sacco has been collecting atleast Kshs.50 every day from the members and is used in the upkeeps of the Sacco and offering of loans to the members in case they needed it in any way whatsoever.
He said that the money has been accumulated enough and now they have enough to sensitize those members who are not competent and also to educate the new members in the society.
He has however cautioned the bodaboda operators who tarnish their names by allegedly transporting thugs from the sprawling Kiandutu slums in the town to carry on their heinous act.
He said that once they are sensitized, they with the police will launch a crackdown to eliminate those members to face the court of law.
He has called on the area police to be patient as the investigations are carried within the Sacco and once the culprit is identified, he will be fished from the Sacco and be brought to books.
“We as the members will have our own crack down and we will fish those culprits that wants to tarnish our names and we will not relent,” he assured.
