Thika District Business Association (TDBA) has challenged the national and county governments to be pro-active in their strategies to avoid being reactive.

TDBA secretary Alfred Wanyoike said the governments should not be waiting for disasters to happen for them to rush to contain them.

He was reacting to the challenges the county government was facing in relation to the El~Niño rains.

Wanyoike said that it was quite unfortunate that there were reports of destruction of property in some sections of Thika Sub-County by El~Niño rains considering the fact that there had been money set aside for El~Niño preparedness.

"Someone must have slept on the job for such calamities to be experienced in this era and age. As Thika business people, we call for proper management of rainwater to avoid any further losses," said Wanyoike.

However, he hailed the county government and security chiefs in Thika for their cooperation in ensuring a conducive business environment.

He also appealed to both the national and county governments to ease the stringent bureaucratic process that was making it very hard for the youth to access the Youth, Uwezo and Biashara Funds.

He was speaking during a press briefing called on by TDBA in Coconut grill on Friday.
