Speaking from her Thika office yesterday, Ochami said that criminal elements will not be tolerated in the area.

She said that police have mapped out criminal hideouts and will immediately flush them out.

“We are not going to allow criminals to cause havoc in this area. The public should provide information that will lead to arrest of criminals,” she said.

The deputy commander said that security measures have been implemented, including 24-hour police patrols.

Ochami intimated that security in Thika and neighbouring environs will be intensified in the wake of terror scares.

“We must work together and help each other in order to curb crime and terror scares. Business premises owners should put in place appropriate security measures also,” she said.

At the same time, the commander said that a manhunt for armed robbers that shot dead a matatu driver and his conductor at Kenol bus terminus is still ongoing.

She asked anyone with information in regards to the killing to share it with the police.

The driver and the conductor of the Kigumo Travelers Matatu Sacco were allegedly carjacked and killed by armed gunmen on Tuesday night. Their bodies were found dumped at the Kenol bus terminus.

Ochami said that police will not rest until the killers are apprehended.
