Anjere said that cases of locals being duped by conmen are on the rise, but his office is currently investigating several cases and will bring to book all those involved.

“These people approach with intention of selling you land when in real sense they have no land to sale to you and it is important for locals to be careful when transacting land matters,” he said during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Thika stadium on Wednesday.

Anjere cited Kiang’ombe and Gachangi as areas with increasing cases of land conmen, and advised residents and property buyers to get information on land matters from the Thika lands registry to avoid being duped.

“Before buying any property and more so land, it is necessary for buyers to check whether the property exists,” he said.

On Thursday, when he met officials from the Ministry of Lands and Housing in his office, Governor William Kabogo said that land matters are sensitive, adding that his government is working with the National Lands Commission (NLC) and the ministry to address land cases in Kiambu.
