Thika Sub County Deputy Commissioner John Anjere has urged local chiefs in the area to sensitize residents on Nyumba Kumi security initiative in efforts to tame criminal activities and ensure law and order in the area.
Anjere said that Nyumba Kumi will streamline security if it is embraced by all the locals.
Addressing journalists at Thika town on Wednesday, the Thika sub county DCC noted that a large number of the population in the sub county has not yet embraced Nyumba Kumi.
The Thika DCC said it is the responsibility of every citizen to take part in security matters.
“Local chiefs should not tire up in educating the locals on the importance of Nyumba Kumi security initiative,” he said.
He said that though security has improved in the recent past it was important for locals to work with the law agencies in taming crime.
At the same time, Anjere warned criminals saying that they will be hunted down.
He said that police will intensify patrols and surveillance to ensure the area is crime free.
"We have mapped out all areas we perceive to be dens of criminals and will soon flush them out," said the Thika DCC.
The DCC further cautioned youths in the area against being lured into crime. “As law agencies we will act tough on anyone found going contrary to the laws,” he warned.
