Thika west DCC Jeremiah Gicheru has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to swallow his pride and withdraw Kenyan troops operating in Somali to guard our borders against Al Shabaab Militia.
The DCC who was speaking on Friday morning in his office in Thika township ward said that Al Shabaab is now the problem of Kenyan as opposed to Somali thus the security of Kenyans is at stake since pride is in play.
This comes after 147 students were confirmed dead and over 70 wounded in Garissa campus after the Al Shabaab attacked the institution on Thursday morning that has raised concerns in matter of security in Kenya.
He said that Somali people are tired with the curfew in their own country and they feel threatened since they no longer have the freedom to move about as they wish.
Gicheru explained that a man fighting for his freedom is very fierce and thus the Al Shabaab are now going to greater extent to cause Kenyans pain and bloodshed.
“Mr. President is too proud to acknowledge that his own home is in danger and it is such a pride that is making us vulnerable,” said Gicheru.
He added. “Al Shabaab have a clear conscience and so does our president, they have their own legacy to protect and their pride too, but once our lives are on the line then we have to swallow our pride since Kenya is greater than any person”
Gicheru however urged Kenyans to remain calm and have utmost trust in our government to tackle the insecurity in our nation since the incident is a national disaster.
