Thika downtown was flooded for the better part of Sunday morning after a main water pipe burst, forcing water to overflow through a petrol filling station near Section 9.
Pedestrians were forced to walk for a long distances to seek an alternative routes.
The situation also caused a nuisance to Chania Kibwezi Sacco matatus as their terminus is based in the same location.
According to the residents, the pipe burst early morning and the water had been flowing for hours.
“The water has been flowing for hours since early in the morning as you can see still the water is overflowing we may be faced by water shortage till the water company repairs the pipe,” said Jane Gitahi, a resident.
This comes shortly after the Thika Water and Sewerage Company (Thiwasco) completed their repairs assuring the residents consistent water supply.
The water company has always been committed to offering the best and consistent water supply within the sub county, according to its managing director K.M Njoroge.
Efforts to reach the Thiwasco for a comment on the matter were not successful, but its employees were working on the leakage by the time of filing this report.
