Thika East sub-county commissioner David Komen has assured area residents that security will be maintained during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

He said this during an interview after a security meeting with the local administrators and the residents of the area in Kilimambogo.

The DCC said that all leave applications by police officers, assistant county commissioners and chiefs have been suspended to ensure security is heightened during the festive celebrations.

Mr. Komen said that officers on leave have been recalled back to their duties adding that they will be granted leave days next year to enhance safety of every resident.

“We have requested our officers on leave to come back and assist us in tightening security within the entire sub-county and we have promised to grant them other leave days early next year,” Komen said.

He instructed traffic police officers to ensure that road safety measures are strictly adhered to especially along the Garissa road route which he insisted is prone to road accidents.

The DCC said that all security heads have been briefed by the county commissioner on security during the festive season and confirmed that security has been beefed up through the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

The commissioner urged residents to be vigilant and report any incident that could be a threat to their security.

“I call on all business people to be vigilant of their customers during this festive season by frisking them whenever they visit their premises for shopping,” Mr. Komen insisted.
