Speaking during a press briefing at his office, Thika West deputy commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru said men idling during the day are likely to be the criminals who attack Thika residents at night.

He said that he has been a victim of such attacks and he is working with the sub-county police commander to ensure anyone idling is arrested to account for their actions.

"I was attacked earlier and other residents have suffered the same fate. I am sure the same people idling during the day are the culprits we are looking for," Gicheru said.

He added that he was on the forefront to enhance security in the area and urged the public to work hand in hand with the security committee to ensure the culprits bringing about insecurity are arrested.

He was accompanied by the area police boss Shadrack Maithya, who said plainclothes security officers are on the ground for the operation.
