The Kiambu County government spent a full day teaching Thika sub-county ladies how to use female condoms on Tuesday at Thika community hall in Starehe estate.
The county health executive Dr Jonah Mwangi opened the event that saw college students and residents gather to gain the knowledge on how to use protection.
Mwangi said many ladies get themselves infected by STIs as they do not have any knowledge about how to protect themselves from the diseases.
He said that his docket has put aside money for the education in all the sub-counties.
“We have set aside a certain amount for this education and we are targeting all the sub-counties which we are sure of covering soon,” Mwangi said.
He added, “The beneficiaries will receive female condoms and books to guide them in their sex lives as the generation we have needs total care because they indulge themselves in sex when so young.”
The executive said that the huge turnout of Thika college students was a clear show that the ladies were eager to learn.
