Thika township ward MCA Kennedy Mwangi has revealed that he is working towards establishment of International Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya (FIDA) offices within Thika town to help the area women from hooligan men in the society.
This comes after the Juja MP Francis Waititu was caught pants down for allegedly threatening one of his female employees to terminate her from his office due to being denied sexual advancement.
The MCA said that he will not seat back and watch the same heinous act is repeated in his ward thus vowed to establish FIDA offices in the region to empower women against the malicious men they call husbands.
“I will not allow women to be mistreated in my ward just like what happened in Juja Sub County thus the offices will help empower women and girl child in the area,” said Mwangi.
The legislator has expressed his concerns with domestic violence in Thika region where women are being buttered by their husbands and some even killed due to petty marital quarrel.
He said that the family fights usually ends up heartwarming mostly women and children who are considered vulnerable in the society and it was a high time to stop the uncouth behavior in his ward.
The TNA legislator revealed that the office will be located in Thika town and urged women not to be hushed in their home and report cases of violence or being mishandled inappropriately to help save girl child in not only Thika but Kiambu at large.
The law maker who was speaking on Friday in Thika town said that he will stop at nothing to make sure women are treated with respect in the society and urged men to respect the woman decision of life.
He has called on his counterparts to ensure the repetition of Juja is not repeated and thus advocated them to set strategies to help girl child in the society in line with vision 2030.
