Thika East MCA Cecilia Wamaitha has asked the Kiambu government to engage women in development.

Addressing women group’s at Villa's estate on Tuesday, the MCA said that women have a right to be involved in development.

The MCA accused the county government of sidelining women on matters development and policy making.

“We are demanding that the county government involves women in key decision-making,” she said.

The Thika East MCA said that the constitution allows them to be engaged in key development matters.

She said that women are critical pillars in society and that their advice ought to be sought.

Wamaitha said that times when women were subjected to harsh discrimination were over. The MCA asked women to come together and demand what rightfully belongs to them.

She said that many women have gone to school and have skills and expertise that can help change the society.

Wamaitha further urged women to seek elective posts at both the county and the national government.
