Thika Sub-County MCAs seem to have been diverted from their support of governor William Kabogo after meeting area MP Alice Ng’ang’a and senator Kimani Wamatangi.
In a meeting to deliberate on the construction of Thika by-pass, which the MCAs have been against, Ng’ang’a said that there is need to fast track the construction of the by-pass which she said will reduce traffic congestion in the area.
The MCAs have been against the construction of the roads proposed by the MP to the deputy President William Ruto during his Thika tour. But, after a series of accidents alleged to have been caused by traffic congestion, the MCAs met the MP and the senator for the same.
Ng’ang’a added that the national government has already channelled the funds to her CDF account and she is ready to commence the construction of the roads. She added that the county government cannot bar her from developing Thika as she leads in Thika.
“Your governor has been opposed to this project saying that I must ask for his consent which I cannot. I lead Thika and I will go ahead whether he wants it or not. This project was approved by the deputy president,” Ng’ang’a said.
Wamatangi called on the MCAs to support developments in the area and not to politicise the projects meant to improve the living standards of the people.
The MCAs have, for the first time, met the leaders since election and spoke in the same voice saying that they are willing to see Thika without traffic congestion as it affects everyone.
