Ohuru says that those found to have tampered with the gadgets will be dealt with ruthlessly.

He noted that some PSV motorists have a habit of interfering with their vehicles' speed governors during the holidays with an aim of making several trips and bigger profits in return.

"Don't even try it because it will bring you more trouble than gains. My officers and I will be conducting regular checks and you can be sure we will get you," Ohuru told journalists at his Thika Town office on Tuesday.

He promised travellers coming in and out of Thika traffic command area under him that all measures will be in place to guarantee their safety.

"We are not saying that we are doing it because it is a holiday. We are rather saying that our operations will be stepped up to ensure that all the motorists obey the set traffic rules. What is of concern to us is the safety of every road user," Ohuru added.

At the same time, Ohuru appealed to travellers coming in and out of the area to report errant matatu operators to his office promising that action will be taken against such motorists.
