The MP who was speaking at Chania Girls on Friday urged everyone who is able and in a position to add more children, to do so.

"You saw the statistics in the papers today for those who come from Central Kenya. Our numbers are decreasing. So all of us, I included, let us make a plan of adding more children so that the number does not go down," Ng'ang'a said.

The MP fell short of saying that she wanted them to add children for voting purposes.

"We need these small beautiful ones so that we can build our nation," she added.

This follows a recent Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) report that showed that families in counties considered rich such as Murang'a, Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga among others have no more than three children as compared to some other 'poor' counties especially in North Eastern Kenya.

The MP was the guest of honour at Chania Girls' Prize Giving Ceremony.
