Thika Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina has challenged local youth who have graduated from institutions of higher learning, to apply for county and sub-county jobs.
The MP noted that the youth should prefer working with the government now that it has created job opportunities through devolution.
"The number of graduates in this region is high and I am advising our youth to apply for county jobs in all sectors," he said.
He regretted that many leaders in the country were not giving priority to the youth.
"Its clear that many leaders are self-centered and all they want is to help themselves and their families. It is time they learnt that the dependency ratio is on the increase," he added.
Wainaina was speaking at the Thika St Andrew Anglican Church on Thursday during a youth conference.
