Residents in Gachagi slums in Thika West have raised concerns over what they have termed as increased rate of land grabbing in the area rendering mány homeless.
According to Bernard Kiarie, over 20 families have been left homeless in the area after persons claiming to have bought the land chased them away.
“The situation may get worse since only a few people have title deeds to these lands. Anonymous people from no where are coming and evicting our people in the name of owning thrse pieces of land.
"Within no time nobody will be left here. Our leaders must intervene now or else watch us suffer as squatters," Kiarie said.
On Saturday, Thika MP Patrick Wainaina availed himself at the site and assured the residents his support to ensure nobody is evicted unfairly.
Wainaina also promised to offer financial support to floods victims in Thika Town constituency.
"Iam ready to serve you to the best of my knowledge and capability to see that each one of you who owns a piece of land in this place get it back.Any land belonging to Gachagi resident will not get lost," he assured.
