Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina alias Wajungle on Monday launched the Matathia Primary School water project in Maguguini, Thika East Sub-county.
This was after a successful revival and completion of the project which involved fixing of an abandoned borehole and reinstallation of a stolen transformer.
"We have paid the meter rates and ensured that water can be pumped to the school and a water tank in the neighborhood. The school children have now an easy time and also the community can enjoy supply of fresh water," Wainaina said.
The school and the local community have been experiencing water problems as there is no piped water in the dry place.
Area residents thanked the MP saying that he had shown that development is not about talk and empty promises.
"This is laudable. The water problem in this area has always been a campaign tool that politicians use to hoodwink us while delivering nothing. Today we have seen 'mheshimiwa' walk the talk," said Peris Wairimu, a resident.
Joseph Maina said that the area will grow economically as residents will be able to practise small-scale commercial farming.
Meanwhile, the school headmaster thanked the MP for what he said is 'saving the school pupils from long distances as they go to fetch water'.
