Thika Town MP Eng Patrick Wainaina has promised to give jobs at his Jungle Nuts company to all reformed drunks who undergo rehabilitation programme successfully.
Speaking in Thika Town on Monday, Wainaina said that there is need to keep busy those who undergo rehabilitation or else they will revert to alcohol drinking because of idleness.
"All those who finish rehabilitation should report to Jungle Nuts and we shall give them jobs. We know idleness is the main reason many of these people are in alcohol drinking," Wainaina said.
Speaking at the same time, Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba promised to take all those affected by alcohol to a rehab centre in Kiambu.
"In Kiambaa constituency I have a rehab centre that will be opening its doors next week on 26 March. We shall admit 350 people who have been adversely affected by alcohol," Gathoni said.
Governor Ferdinand Waititu on his part said that all bars selling alcohol in the area are doing it illegally as all the licences had been revoked.
"We are telling them to close those bars and apply for new licenses afresh. We are very serious with this matter and the residents will have the final say on the number of bars they will in their localities," said Waititu.
