Thika MP, Alice Ng’ang’a, has said that she will be on the ballot for the Kiambu governor’s seat in the 2022 general elections.
Ng’ang’a, who is seeking to defend her parliamentary seat in 2017, says that she has enough experience to run for a higher position in 2022.
“I have confidence that Thika locals will endorse my second term as MP in 2017 after which I will be going for a higher position in the 2022 general elections,” she said as quoted by the Star.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker has warned aspirants eying to unseat her telling them to prepare for a fierce battle.
Ng’ang’a defended her development track record saying it speaks for itself.
The MP accused some aspirants of tarnishing her personal life.
“People seeking elective seats must stop propaganda and malicious politics and engage in issue based campaigns,” she said.
Several aspirants among them Jungle Nuts Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Wainaina have declared interest in unseating Ng’ang’a.
Last week, Wainaina promised to end unemployment among the youth if elected as MP in 2017.
Businessman Morris Mburu is also eying the Thika Parliamentary seat in 2017.
