Speaking to journalists at Thika town on Wednesday, Mr Kangu'tu noted that ID applicants apply for the documents but failed to collect them.

Mr Kangu'tu said that it is necessary for the applicants to collect the documents from the local chiefs.

“We want to ask ID applicants who applied for the documents to collect them from the places they had applied from,” he said.

Mr also asked youths who have reached the eligible age to apply for the documents.

“We should not be waiting for the tie to register as voters to apply for IDs people who have reached the required age of getting the IDs should apply for them,” he said.

The registrar said that a campaign to have youths register for Ids is being conducted in Thika. He said that it is important for locals to have national identification documents at all times.

Mr Kangu'tu also refuted claims that Ids application was taking too long. He said that with technology the process has been made easier and the longer it can take is three days.

“People should stop giving excuses in regards to ID application and instead apply for the documents,” he said.
