A man was today arraigned in a Thika court on Monday for being in possession of one sack of bhang valued at Sh. 150,000. Joseph Njoroge 36, who appeared before resident magistrate Hon. Geoffrey Onsarigo allegedly, committed the crime on August 7th 2013 at Mukarara Murang’a County. The accused denied the allegation levelled against him. Prosecutor Mbila read out the allegations to the accused, that he was found with a sack of bhang at his home. In self defense, Njoroge accused police of malice and having slapped him in his house infront of his children before handicapping him. Njoroge further told the court that police had conspired with a neighbor whom they had had a case with before. “My neighbor, Joseph Mbaru had taken me to court accusing dismissed due to lack of evidence and during the hearing of the case, I saw these two policemen conversing with Mbaru, something which made me suspicious, “said Njoroge. He was released on a Sh.200, 000 bond, the hearing being slated for May 25th this year.
