Speaking in their meeting where deliberation on the matter of the cost of rent in Thika’s Ofafa, Starehe and Ziwani estates, which was presided over by Thika legislator madam Alice Nganga, it was proposed the step towards a corruption free county would be to have county leaders come under scrutiny for the use of taxpayer money.

They said that the government should also open its eyes to the lower county governments and see where corruption has become a day to day activity

According to James Kamwana, the residents have to say no to the oppressive rental rates that leave them wondering if the salary they take from  their work will suffice seeing how it is allocated all over the county.

“It means that we have a very corrupt county government whereby we can’t see the things being done by the money they are demanding from us. We deserve to see the services being offered to us and not only us giving the money to them,” Kamwana said

Thika MP also said that if the county government has corrupt officials they will also be scrapped off to give room for good governance and also give room for services to the people.

“We have seen corruption eating up our county and now we have said of they don’t move from those positions freely we are going to scrap them off by force because we are the ones who gave them the votes and now we can take back what we gave them, and use it to give another person who will serve us better,” Nganga said
