Last week President Uhuru Kenyatta gave go ahead introduction of the children condoms in the society.

Children condoms are expected to help in accelerating the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Kenya.

Residents have responded differently with some of them saying that they would rather bury their heads in the sand and assume that their children are not engaging in sexual activities.

Dickson Mutuga a businessman in Thika town said the decision is demeaning African culture.

“I do not like the idea. It is like encouraging our young ones to start practicing sex at an early age,” noted Mutuga.

Mutuga added that condoms are not always 100 percent save, meaning they are still at risk.

Susan Mumbi a pharmacist said that children who currently not indulging in sex may see this as right time to start.

Mumbi adds that Kenyan education system do not comprehensively cover sexuality topics.

However, George Mbaya a mechanic said that parents must face the reality that their children have become of age, hence need to openly talk about sex with them.

Michael Ngari supported government's move where he said it is about preventive measures.

Recent statistics by Kenya HIV Estimates report 2014 by Ministry of Health, show that 16 per cent of all people living with HIV are adolescent and youth.

Three in every new infection was in the same age group (15 – 24 years).
