Teachers and workers at the Maryhill girls high school today evening broke into dance and jubilation to celebrate the 5th best student candidate Nationally in the 2017 KCSE examination that was released today (Wednesday).
Harriet Muutu Mueke who scored an A of 85.956 went through Maryhill Girls High School through sponsorship by the KCB Foundation. She is also the top candidate in Kiambu County.
The shy but very brilliant student had also toped in her KCPE examination at the Divine Mercy Kariobangi South in 2013 and has always been focused and God fearing
“I knew I would perform well but I never imagined I could be among the top ten candidates countrywide,” she said soon after going for the results at her former school.
The second-born daughter in a family of four children said she would like to study civil engineering and later pursue a course at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, US.
Her mother Irene Muutu who accompanied her daughter along with siblings said she had committed her to prayer and hence was not surprised by the results.
Maryhill principal Jacinta Akatsa said the general performance of the school was quite impressive with four straight A’s and at least 27 A- grades.
