Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Thika KNUT branch chairman Joe Mungai urged teachers in the Sub County to keep off class rooms.

Mungai also urged head teachers to ignore a directive by Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi requiring them to conduct roll call on teachers.

The official said that they will not go to schools or classes unless the government acts.

Mungai warned that any head teacher who is a member of the union found in school will be dealt with accordingly.

The official said that the strike that started on Monday is 100 per cent successful.

He added that they will only resume their duties when the government hid to their demands.

Mungai asked parents to take charge of their children activities noting that sending them to school at this time is not appropriate.

“Parents should stay with their children until when the strike will be called off,” said Mungai.
