Thika town is rated as among the fastest growing town in Kenya being the only town apart from Nairobi which is fed by the super highway according to Thika Districts Business Association chairman Mr. Waweru Nderitu.

Speaking in his office in Thika town on Thursday, Mr. Nderitu stated that with the many investors flocking the town citing the previous launching of the Society Store supermarket, Thika might become the next city before vision 2030.

He said that superhighway has resulted to investors coming into the town since the infrastructure is favorable and has ease congestion and traffic that lure business enterprises to boom up and create employment for the Thika residents.

“Investors are flocking into the county with the good infrastructure available thus employment will not be an issue with time,” Nderitu said.

Thika town which has erupt within a short period of time used to be a small town with less development and many people used to view it as rural area a few years ago with many people dying as a result of HIV/AIDS that led to the name ‘THIKA’ which means ‘BURRY’ in the Kikuyu native language.

The chairman said that with the introduction of the County court has raised an assurance to business entrepreneurs that their valuables are in good hands and security is well catered for.

“The county court has reduced crime and many entrepreneurs are confident to start businesses in the area,” He said.

Nderitu has however hailed the county government for consistent support to work with the people and for establishing the court and roads which support businesses in the area.

He has further extended his gratitude to Thika west OCPD Shadrack Maithya for trying hard to tame insecurity in the region and providing a conducive environment for entrepreneurs saying that it is not easy to control such a growing town.
