The police in Thika have been blamed for the runaway insecurity in the area.

Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina has threatened to ensure the officers are fired if they don't find the killers of a taxi driver who was brutally murdered late last month.

Francis Kariuki Wainaina, 42, was killed by unknown gunmen while entering his compound in Section Nine on November 29.

He died of head injuries he sustained during the attack.

"I am giving the police commanders two weeks ultimatum to find out who killed Karis (deceased). If they don't tell us who committed the crime, I am assuring them that they won't be transferred, they will be sacked," he said.

Wainaina noted that there are a number of killing cases in the region that are yet to be dealt with conclusively.

Early this year Thika-based businesswoman Joyce Wambui Githitu was killed by unknown assailants who broke into her house in Maki estate.

The perpetrators of the crime are yet to be brought to book.

"We cannot assume everything is okay when people are being murdered like sheep. This must stop," the MP stated.
