Speaking on Monday at St.John ACK Happy Valley Church in landless, Wainaina said the money will be used to trap rainwater and storing it in tanks.

The programme is scheduled to kick off in Ngoliba Primary School in Thika East Sub-County.

The MP said that his administration had prioritized provision of water in school due to acute water shortages that have forced learners to at times carry drinking water to school.

Other than rainwater harvesting, the MP said that they would assess the viability of boreholes sunk in some schools in the constituency and if found economically viable, they will complete their sink and treatment measures to reduce water scarcity in learning institutions.

He also requested the County Government of Kiambu to improve water provision to the residents mainly in areas that often suffer water outages.

'Wajungle' as he is popularly known, particularly singled out Landless area where a borehole sank by THIWASCO turned out to contain high percentage of fluoride.

"The county government need to seek alternatives to provide better quality water to landless residents. We hold in high regard the county government's efforts to improve clean water accessibility to residents," Wainaina said in Thika on Monday.

He addded : "The 60billion water dam projects is a good strategy. Although, we need to have short-term projects that will reduce water scarcity to the resident,” said Wainaina.
