Thika Township Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina has assured that flood victims in his constituency will receive some funds to start lives afresh after flooding rain waters swept away their property.
Wainaina while speaking in Thika town on Thursday said traders who lost their commodities following the floods will be helped restart their businesses.
“I regret the losses the traders incurred but I will give some support where I can to the traders so that they can start their businesses afresh to earn income. The affected victims are advised to visit CDF office in the constituency headquarters to be listed down for compensation to be processed,” said the MP.
He promised that Thika Sub County will not experience floods in the future because the roads will be upgraded and good drainage systems are set up to ensure a free flow of rain waters.
The MP also called on Kiambu County government under the leadership of Governor Ferdinand Waititu to move with speed and open up feeder roads in the region to ease transportation.
“Roads under the national government will be upgraded so that issues of floods to end in the region. The county should also move with speed to upgrade roads which are under the devolved unit to ease transportation at all times. Traders and other residents should have no hard times using roads,” he added.
