Traders in Kiambu County have disowned an agreement with the amended deal that they were given by the County Government.
Speaking to the press in Thika Town, Thika Business District Association Secretary Alfred Wanyoke said that they were only fighting for the reduction of the license fees and rates.
"The deal which was on Monday produced by the County Government is very different from the one which we had presented. There is no point where we said that we want all the hawkers in the CBDs to be removed," Wanyoike said.
The Chairman of Moi Market in Thika Zack Mwangi said that the county government was avoiding their key issues raised.
"Since we presented our agreements to the county government, we have not even been called for consultations. We are wondering how the county government can go ahead and announce that we have entered into a deal with them,” Mwangi said.
Mwangi said that they were going to seek legal action against the County Government if it fails to produce the original agreement which they had earlier presented.
"We want the county government to deal with our issues and to ensure that the traders in Kiambu County get the much needed services from the county government and a fair license fees and rates," Mwangi said.
