The needy varsity and college students in Thika constituency will be served with bursaries from the Education trust fund early next month has confirmed the CDF Chairman Ephraim Njihia.
This comes after the Primary and Secondary school students were served with the bursaries earlier this month where over Shs. 6 million were disbursed by the area legislator Alice Ng’ang’a.
Speaking to the press this morning in his office, the Chairman said that they are intending to disburse the bursaries to the students who did not benefit during the earlier event and were vetted and confirmed to have qualified for the same.
Njihia said that they have already disbursed over Shs. 10 million from the Sh18 million launched in the kitty and they are set to disburse the rest in the oncoming event saying that the number of applicants this time has risen.
Last year, more than 280 students benefitted from the Fund according to Njihia with 17 fully sponsored. He added that they are targeting a much bigger number this time round as they lower students that benefitted also increased in number thus some were left out and may be put in this time.
He said that the MP is ready to support any child with fee problem and vowed to support the needy in the education sector saying that education was part of the MP’s campaign promises, which according to Njihia, she has fulfilled by supporting many students who have already benefitted.
