Former Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia were on Sunday held to a 1-1 draw by Thika United at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Mwinyi Kibwana was on target for Thika but substitute Godfrey Walusimbi cancelled out his effort in the second half to secure a point for the 15-time champions.

Shami Kibwana drove forward to complete a great individual effort in the 20th minute when he beat Thika goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch.

Gor got an excellent chance to make amends in the 67th minute when Jacques Tuyisenge was felled inside the box.

Timothy Otieno however fluffed the spot kick, shooting the ball directly into the hands of Thika goalkeeper Eliud Emase.

Second half substitute Godfrey Walusimbi restored parity seven minutes to time with a wonderfully taken free kick.

K’Ogalo are still on top of the standings with 26 points after playing 12 matches.

Thika are 16 with nine points from the same number of matches.
