Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Thika United has moved to court in a bid to forestall the impending playoffs pitting them against National Super League (NSL) side Ushuru Fc.
The milkmen who were scheduled to host the taxmen in the dual determiner with the first leg slated for December 6 (Tomorrow) have now thrown the whole arrangement into disarray after they moved to the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) on Tuesday to have the fixtures revoked.
Thika have been hesitant about participating in the playoffs arguing that the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) must honour the 2015 agreement they had with league sponsor KPL over the manner in which teams are to be promoted and relegated from the top-tier competition.
In the agreement, the two sides held that the bottom two teams at the end of the KPL season should be relegated and be replaced by the two top teams in the National Super League.FKF have however since denounced the agreement.
Thika United finished sixteenth to escape the relegation shocker although FKF maintains that they will have to square it out with Ushuru who were third in the NSL league to determine who takes part in the KPL 2018 season.
