Kenya Premier League side Thika United is set to play fellow rivals AFC Leopards in a pre-season friendly match this Saturday at the Thika Sub County Stadium.
The match is one of the many fixtures that the milkmen have lined up in a bid to bolster their squad ahead of the looming 2018 season.
Thika had a not so impressive 2017 season that saw them flirt dangerously with relegation although they were lucky to remain in the Kenyan top flight league courtesy of a win in the KPL playoffs against National Super League side Ushuru FC.
Ingwe also struggled largely in the very season and at one time threatened to end in disarray as they lost back to back matches although just like Thika, lady luck was on their side as they finished eighth courtesy of a late resurgence.
And on Tuesday, Leopards team manager Gilbert Selebwa said they would be using the Saturday encounter to sharpen their offensive front and gauge their new signings.
"We are playing Thika on Saturday starting at 9 am. We are fine tuning the team to ensure it's very sharp before the new season starts. So far so good and we can only get better with more matches and more training," Selebwa said.
The Kiambu based side is currently in the transfer market following the departures of its key stars among them Suleiman Ngotho and Wilson Anekeya as well as the imminent exit of talismanic striker Onwudi Chibueze. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
