Much anticipated play off ruling between Thika United and Ushuru FC to secure promotion into the Kenya premier League (KPL) set to be delivered on Wednesday December 20 at the sports dispute tribunal(SDT).
The Sports Dispute Tribunal had issued a temporary injunction stopping the two-legged fixture that was set to take place on December 6 and 10.Thika United finished position 16(one position above automatically relegated sides) and Ushuru United was 3rd in the 2nd tier League, National Super League. The match had been suspended after Thika united obtained an injunction from SDT on December 5 citing poor communication from the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) as the club was not aware that the play-off was to take place.
Thika United lawyer, Mr Wahome Njagi, speaking to soka.com said “Thika United was only issued with formal communication regarding the play off on November 20th, long after the league (KPL) had ended."
He believe d he dad a strong case against the federationfederation.
"Clause 4 of the KPL - FKF agreement is very clear on the promotion and relegation criteria - the decision must be agreed before a season kicks off and can only take effect the following season. I believe we have a strong case,” he added.
