However, civil servants in the industrial sub-county expressed their anger and concerns after the registration kits failed to accommodate them all when the exercise kicked off on Monday.

In the exercise launched by the Kiambu County deputy commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru, the workers from Thika town were shocked when the coordinating officials announced that the kits could only register 120 people in a day.

The workers, who had come from as far as Kilimambogo, were forced to go back home following the announcement of the registration failure. The officials claimed that only workers from Juja town were set to be registered on the first day of the exercise, thus all the Thika town workers could not be accommodated.

"We are sorry there was a miscommunication about the process. We expected civil servants from Juja town only but even those from Thika have turned up," said James Murugi, one of the supervisors.

Speaking after being registered on Monday, Gicheru calmed the workers and apologised for the inconvenience.

"We regret that there was a miscommunication by the county coordinator. The coordinators are working fast to expedite the exercise," Gicheru said.

The exercise is set to conclude today and register approximately 400 civil servants from the sub-county.
