Thika sub county MP Alice Ng’ang’a has called on the new Thika West OCPD Francis Muthamia to work closely with the common Mwananchi as opposed to the outgoing OCPD.

Speaking in Thika town on Wednesday during the hawkers and traders demonstration the MP said that the previous OCPD Shadrack Maithya was highly influenced by the malicious leaders in Kiambu. She said that he was the puppet that Muthamia should not become.

Ng’ang’a said that it was high time that Kiambu police commander James Mugera to reshuffle the police in Kiambu, whom she termed as corrupt and rotten.

She expressed concerns that police officers who were supposed to eradicate corruption and crime were the same culprits spearheading the heinous acts.

The legislator called on the police commander to reshuffle the whole police department every two years to minimize cases of corruption. She called corruption a cancer not only isolated to Kiambu county but the entire nation as well.

She condemned leaders who influenced the police crew in Kenya saying that their heinous actions would not help Kenya but instead tear it apart, especially during this time of insecurity.

The law maker lauded the new OCP Muthamia and cautioned him that ‘Thikarians’ were tired of corrupt leaders. She said that if he fell into the temptation, then the Thika fraternity would fish him out of the community.

She further called on the Thika chief magistrate Stephen Mbungi to help reshuffle the whole Thika Judiciary team to allow openness and accountability for the members of the public.

“Now that the police have been reshuffled, the chief magistrate should also expedite the vetting of the whole judiciary as well since we want a corrupt free Thika,” said Ng’ang’a.
