Well, your dream may just be about to get true especially if you don't mind relocating 30km away North East of Nairobi to Thika town. It is after you make this 'bold' move that your remotest dream of ever living in the posh estates you only hear about when in Nairobi may turn to a reality.

Take for instance, Muthaiga, Runda, Karen and Starehe. These are high life estates in Nairobi where the who is who's of this country retire home every evening. For many of us, it is a pipe dream to think of even renting a household in these estates leave alone owning a plot there.

But wait, no need of kicking your head really hard wondering where your dad or grandpa was when men of his age were scrambling and partioning the fattest meat of Nairobi. Reason? In your own simple means you can afford an alternative.

In Thika's Kiganjo area you will find a replica of these four estates (Muthaiga, Runda, Karen, Starehe) and many others going by similar names.

However, be warned that the only thing that the Thika estates share with their Nairobi counterparts is the name. The rest of the things from affluence, good drainage, sanitation, fresh air, uninterrupted electricity supply to regular clean water supply remains a reserve for their Nairobi's big brothers.

So, when you are around Thika next time and see people boarding old, rickety and almost unroadworthy matatus at Whiteline matatu stage, near Thika Stadium, then hear them say they are headed to either Muthaiga, Starehe, Runda or Karen, don't think they have gone amok. They are headed home.
