He clinched the coveted position on August 8, 2017, on a Jubilee ticket after he trounced his predecessor, Nathif Jamaa, with a big margin of votes.

Education Background. 

The Governor started his formal education at Balambala constituency in 1970 and sat his CPE in 1976.

He then proceeded to Garissa high school for his 1977 and did his O-level exam in 1980.

Having excelled his O- level, the County Boss proceeded to George Washington University, Washington, USA, Master of Arts degree in Diplomacy in 1985.

Job history

In 1985, he joined the provincial administration as a district officer and was promoted to the position of District Commissioner in 1988.

In 2001 under the then Kanu reign, the county boss served as Permanent secretary in the ministry of Ministry of Tourism and Information.

Political career

The county boss officially joined politics in 2007, where he competed against the majority leader Aden Duale for the Garissa parliamentary seat and the latter carried the day.

In 2013, he vied for the position of Garissa gubernatorial seat and lost to the then Nathif Jamaa.

Family 

The county boss is a happily married man.

He is the husband to the daughter of Mohamud Mohamed, the retired Chief of General Staff in Kenya.
